Short answer

The fastest way for most insulation contractors to get leads in 2026 is Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram), followed by Google Search ads and a well-built Google Business Profile. Across our published insulation case studies, Meta leads cost $12 to $52 each, with most accounts between $30 and $37. Referrals and SEO are cheaper per lead but slower to build, and shared-lead marketplaces are the most expensive per booked job.

How we ranked the channels

We ranked each channel on four things an insulation owner with 5 to 50 employees actually cares about:

  1. Speed: how soon the first real lead shows up.
  2. Cost: what you pay per lead, and per booked estimate when the data exists.
  3. Control: whether the leads are yours alone or shared with competitors.
  4. Fit: which kind of insulation company each channel suits.

Cost figures come from two places, kept separate: our own published insulation case studies (each one linked), and public benchmarks with their source listed at the bottom. Where no reliable number exists for insulation, we say so instead of guessing.

1. Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram)

Most homeowners don't search for insulation until a cold room, an ice dam or a high bill forces the question. Meta lets you put that problem in front of the right neighbourhoods before they search. That's why it ranks first for speed and volume.

Full table of all ten accounts: Insulation cost per lead by channel.

What makes it work: an offer built on a concrete problem (drafty rooms, high bills, a free attic inspection) instead of "quality insulation services", 2 or 3 fresh ad angles a month, and a follow-up system that calls or texts every lead within minutes.

Where it fails: slow follow-up. Meta leads are earlier in their decision than Google leads, so they cool off fast. The same ads produced booking rates from about 31% to 54% across our accounts; the difference was mostly follow-up.

2. Google Search ads

Search ads catch homeowners who are already typing "attic insulation near me" or "spray foam contractor". They want a quote now, so the lead costs more but tends to be further along.

  • Public benchmark: $90.92 average cost per lead for home and home improvement (WordStream and LocaliQ, April 2025 to March 2026), with trade medians of $128 for HVAC and $228 for roofing (LocaliQ). No public benchmark isolates insulation.

Best for: contractors with someone who answers the phone during business hours. A missed call on a Search lead is expensive.

Tip: exclude DIY searches ("how to install insulation", "Home Depot") from day one, or a big share of the budget goes to people who will never hire you.

3. Google Business Profile (Google Maps)

Your Business Profile is free and shows up on Maps and in local results. Google says local ranking is based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and that reviews and your overall web presence feed prominence (Google Business Profile Help).

What to do:

  • Pick "Insulation contractor" as the primary category and list every service you offer (attic, spray foam, blown-in, crawl space, removal).
  • Ask every finished job for a review, and answer each one.
  • Post photos of real jobs, with the town in the description.
  • Keep your hours and service area accurate.

It won't flood your calendar on its own, but every other channel leads people back to it. A prospect who sees your ad will check your reviews before booking.

4. Referrals and trade partners

Insulation jobs often start with another trade. Good partners:

  • HVAC companies: they see undersized ductwork and hot attics every day.
  • Roofers: a reroof is the moment to fix attic ventilation and insulation.
  • Energy auditors and home inspectors: their reports name the problem you fix.
  • Utility and state efficiency programs: many keep a list of participating contractors homeowners pick from. The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program explains how contractors join through local sponsors.

Referral leads close well and cost nothing in ad spend, but they take months to build and you can't turn them up when the calendar is empty. Treat them as the base, not the engine.

5. Google Local Services Ads (LSA)

LSA puts you at the very top of Google with a "Google Verified" badge (it replaced Google Guaranteed), and you pay per lead rather than per click.

The catch for insulation: in the US, Google lists "Home insulation" as a Local Services category in California and Florida only (Google Local Services Help). Elsewhere, insulation contractors can't run LSA under their own trade. Check the list in your area before building a plan around it.

Where it is available, public data puts LSA leads at $39 to $59 for most trades, $53 blended (SearchLight Digital, 888 contractors, February 2026).

6. Lead marketplaces (Angi, Thumbtack, Modernize)

You buy leads someone else generated. They arrive fast, but they are usually shared with other contractors and you compete on speed and price.

  • Modernize does not publish its lead prices, and requests are typically sold to more than one contractor (SuperDupr review).
  • Public 2026 data puts the cost per booked job at about $250 on Thumbtack and $542 on Angi for home services (Blue Grid Media, cited by NowBooked Marketing).

Use them to fill a slow week if you have spare crews. Don't build the company on them: you don't own the lead, the audience or the data.

7. SEO and website content

Pages that answer real homeowner questions ("Is spray foam worth it in an old house?", "How much does attic insulation cost in [your city]?") bring in leads that cost nothing per click. The trade-off is time: it takes months before a new page ranks, and a page that only repeats a sales pitch rarely ranks at all.

Start with one page per service and one per main town you serve, each with real photos and real prices or ranges. Add a page a month.

Rebates changed in 2026: adjust your offer

The federal 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit no longer applies to insulation placed in service after December 31, 2025 (IRS). If your ads still say "get 30% back with the federal tax credit", change them now. Lead with utility and state rebates in your area, bill savings and comfort instead. In Canada, provincial and utility programs vary by province: name the one your customers can actually use.

FAQ

What is the fastest way to get insulation leads?

Paid ads. Meta ads and Google Search ads can bring leads within days of launch. In our accounts, Meta produced the most leads for the money, with most accounts paying $30 to $37 per lead after the first few weeks.

Should insulation contractors use Facebook ads or Google ads?

Both have a place. Facebook and Instagram create demand from homeowners who haven't started looking yet, so leads are cheaper but need faster follow-up. Google catches people already searching, so leads cost more but are closer to booking. Most contractors start with one, prove it, then add the other.

Can insulation companies run Google Local Services Ads?

In the US, Google lists home insulation as a Local Services category only in California and Florida. Outside those states, insulation contractors can't run LSA under their own trade for now.

Are Angi, Thumbtack or Modernize leads worth it for insulation?

They can fill a slow week, but leads are often shared with other contractors and the cost per booked job runs higher than ads you control. Use them as a supplement, not your main source.

Is the 25C tax credit still available for insulation in 2026?

No. The IRS says the credit is not allowed for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Point homeowners to utility and state rebates instead, and update any ad that still mentions the federal credit.

How do I turn more insulation leads into booked estimates?

Respond in minutes, by call and text, and make booking easy. In our accounts, the same kind of ads produced booking rates from about 31% to 54%, and the gap came mostly from follow-up speed and process.
