Short answer

Contractor SEO is the work that gets your company found without paying per click when a homeowner searches "attic insulation near me" or asks an AI assistant for a local recommendation. It comes down to three things: a complete Google Business Profile with a steady flow of reviews, one page for each service and each city you actually work in, and plain answers to real questions that Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT can quote. Ads fill this month's calendar; SEO builds the leads you stop paying for click by click.

Why Contractors Choose Growth Partner for SEO

A Google Business Profile built to Google's rules

Right categories, every service listed, a service area that matches where your trucks really go, and photos from real jobs. Service-area businesses hide their address, as Google asks. No keywords stuffed into your business name, which is a common reason profiles get suspended.

A page for every service and every city

One "Services" page cannot rank for spray foam in Dayton, epoxy garage floors in Plano and roof replacement in Tampa at the same time. We build a page per service and per city you want, each with local job photos, neighborhoods served and the questions people in that area ask.

Reviews that keep coming, the honest way

Your CRM asks every finished job for a Google review and reminds you to reply. No review gating, no gifts in exchange for five stars, no fake reviews. The FTC has banned those practices since 2024, and they put your profile at risk.

Answers AI assistants can quote

Pages that open with a short, direct answer, FAQs written from real customer questions, schema markup that matches the visible text, and the same name, address and phone number everywhere your business is listed. That is what Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT read when they pick a contractor.

What We Work On

From your Google profile to booked estimates, in a plan you approve.

1. Fix the foundation

Indexing, speed on phones, broken pages, duplicate listings, wrong categories, and a name, address and phone number that differ from one directory to the next. These fixes cost little and often move first.

2. Build service and city pages

One useful page per service and town, built to book with click-to-call, an estimate form and proof from local jobs. The most valuable jobs go live first.

3. Grow reviews, mentions and links

Review requests after every job, replies on your profile, and listings on the directories and local sites search engines and AI tools trust. Real mentions from suppliers, associations and local news beat any link package.

4. Track calls and booked jobs, not just rankings

We track calls, forms and booked estimates from organic search and Maps, so you know what SEO brings in dollars, next to your ads.

What a good service and city page contains

Many contractor sites copy one service page across ten cities and swap the town name. Here is what we put on each page instead:

Section

What goes in it

Why it helps

Direct answer at the top

Two or three sentences: what the job is, who it is for, what it typically involves locally

It is the part Google and AI assistants quote

Local proof

Photos from jobs in that city, neighborhoods served, a short project story

Shows real work in the area, which a swapped page cannot fake

Local context

Climate, common housing stock, permits, utility or state rebates that apply there

Answers what a homeowner in that town actually asks

Costs and timing

What drives the price and how long the job takes, in plain words

Pre-qualifies the lead and matches "how much" searches

FAQ

4 to 6 questions from your calls, emails and estimates

Wins People Also Ask boxes and AI answers

Booking

Click-to-call, a short estimate form, your reviews

Turns the visit into a booked estimate

Schema

LocalBusiness or Service markup that matches the visible text

Helps search engines read the page; Google asks that it match what users see

How AI assistants pick a contractor

Google says there are no special requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode: the page has to be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, and normal SEO practices apply. These features run several related searches to build one answer, so a page that also covers the follow-up questions has more chances to be used.

For ChatGPT, BrightLocal ran 800 local searches in November 2024 and recorded the sources shown. Business websites made up 58% of all sources and 72% on "hire" type searches. Directories made up 15%, and Reddit and Quora did not appear. It is a snapshot, but the lesson is simple: your own website is the main thing AI tools read about you.

What to do about it:

  1. Put the answer first on every service page, in words a homeowner would use.
  2. Keep your name, address, phone, services and service area identical on your site, your Google profile and your directory listings.
  3. Publish the facts AI tools look for: years in business, licenses, warranties, the towns you serve, and the brands you install.
  4. Earn reviews that mention the service and the town ("blown-in attic insulation in Mason"), which happens naturally when you ask right after the job.

How SEO fits our 360 Growth System

SEO works best next to the rest of your marketing. Ads (Google Local Ads, Meta) bring leads while your pages climb. Reputation management keeps reviews coming in. A fast site from our web design and funnels team turns visits into estimates. And AI automation answers every lead in minutes, so the traffic you earn does not go cold. FAQ

How much does SEO cost for a contractor?

Public 2026 data from Hook Agency puts SEO for home-service businesses at about $1,000 to $3,500 a month, depending on how many services and cities you target and how strong the competition is. Ask any provider what is included.

How long does SEO take for a contractor?

Months, not weeks. Profile and technical fixes can move Maps visibility first; new service and city pages need time to be indexed and trusted. That is why we pair SEO with ads at the start, then lean on organic leads as they grow.

Can I rank in a city where I don't have an office?

On regular search results, yes: a strong page for that service and city can rank. On Google Maps, distance is one of the three ranking factors, so it is harder far from your base. Never use a virtual office or mailbox to fake a location; Google says those addresses are not eligible and the profile can be removed.

How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my company?

Make your website the clearest source about your business: services, towns served, licenses, warranties, and short answers to common questions. Keep your details consistent across directories and earn real reviews. AI tools mostly read business websites when they answer local "who should I hire" questions.

Is SEO or Google Ads better for contractors?

They do different jobs. Ads bring leads within days and stop when you stop paying. SEO is slower but keeps working. A common plan is to start with ads to fill the calendar and build SEO in parallel, so your cost per booked job drops as organic leads grow. You can check yours with our cost per booked job calculator.

Can I pay for reviews or offer a discount for 5 stars?

No. The FTC rule announced in August 2024 bans fake reviews and incentives tied to a positive (or negative) review, and Google removes reviews that break its policies. Ask every customer, make it easy with a direct link, and reply to every review.
